Oporoza is located in the present south west Warri Local Government of Delta State, Nigeria. Accessing this unique community from Warri NPA jetty takes approximately two hours by speed boat. Oporoza is the head quarters of Gbaramatu Community development, located along the famous Escravos River by the Chanoni Creeks. For a first time visitor, the longest jetty in the West African Coastline will not escape your fascination. Unfortunately, the escravos is in its turbulent state during the raining season, also the stronghold of Niger Delta Militias is along these creeks and a traveller cannot miss the notorious camp-five which hosts several expatriats taken hostages by these ever fighting militants cum freedom fighters. My speedboat narrowedly escaped being impounded by these milittants when we ran into them guarding a Baccoliner ship seized earlier in the week and dispossesed of all occupants. Uniquely, Oporoza stands on its own when compared to neighboring riverine communities.

The Youth Council in Akwa Ibom hijacked the awareness creation of TIG in the state. Would they be able to sustain the dream that bore the ultimate initiative? Only time would tell.

To raise a critical successor generation that would break the vicious cycle of disillusionment, idleness and servitude which the youths of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and indeed Africa have had to face since antiquity.
